As a musician that has studied music, creates music and knows many other musicians personally, I know how hard it is to get your music played on the radio or on television. Being seen and heard in these media types can make you famous and popular.

Many musicians publish their work on the internet. The internet doesn't filter most people, so you are on your own in this medium. You don't need anybody to accept you or present you. Just sign up to websites like MySpace, or have a website of your own.

I have fellow musicians that brag that they have got 300 views to their music's web pages in a few months, or even a year. That's funny for me, as I get tens of thousands of page views each month.

How do I do it? I promote myself. Other musicians don't think they are supposed to spend time promoting themselves on the web like I do. They believe that opening a page on MySpace and uploading a few tracks or songs to it is enough, and the audience will just come. The question is, how will they come? Most people don't search for music they have not heard before. They turn on the radio or tv to listen to music they already know, and then hear, by incidence, new music too.

As a relatively unknown musician, I believe I should search for my audience and reach it, and not wait for my audience to come to me. There's nothing inappropriate in that.
